"I was absolutely thrilled to have been part of the Northern Design Competition 2010, and even more delighted to have won the Product Design category. I feel that the Competition itself is fantastic. It really showcases design talent in the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It proves that there is a huge amount of talent beyond the stereotypical hub of design in London and opens up opportunities for all of the finalists.
Being able to put this achievement on my CV is a great accolade, and one which I hope will put me in a good position when finishing my Undergraduate degree this coming year.
The Competition is also a great opportunity to meet and talk to other young designers from the north of the UK, and gives you an insight into different disciplines and working practices.
Winning the competition has been a brilliant experience for me. It has really encouraged me to maintain the drive and motivation in my design work, and spurred me on to continue to try to create products of a high standard. I would thoroughly recommend any designer in the North to enter this competition."
