Young Northern Designer 2010

(Interviewed 25th August 2010)

"When I was announced Young Northern Designer 2010 at the award night I was speechless. Nothing can describe how it felt to be recognized and awarded for my passion in design. It was a great opportunity to attend the event and to be able to see other top design work and meet the designers themselves – what an amazing experience! I'm thankful to my tutor for entering my work because being chosen by the judges has given me a great boost in confidence about my work and studies.

Since winning the Young Northern Designer I've been learning more in Adobe After Effects and also some editing in Sony Vegas and bits of 4D Studio at home. With the prize money I bought a more powerful PC to run these programs which is great because my old one was painfully slow and froze up all the time. T he only opportunity I had to play with this software was at college usually.

I'm returning to Hull College this year doing Interactive Media/Graphics studies witch I'm looking forward to! I hope to continue these studies in higher education or land in a job which suites me.

Winning the Young Northern Designer has opened up opportunities for me in design work and I've had a few invitations to do some design events such as at Hallmark. I like to upload my latest work on my Youtube page and I'm also going to make a MySpace profile dedicated to my work - please look out for that.

For those thinking of entering the competition, if you really have your heart set in design go for it! It's a great opportunity to get yourself recognized and an exciting experience.

Good Luck!"
