"Winning the competition gave me such a great confidence booster. With being only in my second year of studying my Graphic Design degree, it is one thing to be praised by tutors, however you are never sure your work is to industry standard. But having actual designers from the industry decide your work is worthy of winning is just so reassuring that I’m doing all the right things and heading in the right direction.
I’ve learnt this year that the design world is all about who knows who, and if you are well known then you are set to go places.
With the Northern Design Competition being my first real networking event, I enjoyed the chance to talk to everyone, and after the winners announcements I was surprised at the number of people who then recognized me and congratulated me.
Since then I have had the confidence to present my work to various studios and enter other awards, which has opened numerous doors for me, allowing me to meet new people as well as several placement opportunities.
I would like to thank the Northern Design Competition for such a great opportunity."
