The 2009 Northern Design Competition, run by Leeds Met, has been launched at the University.
Wayne Hemingway, the founder of fashion label Red or Dead will head the competition's judging panel as the search for the cream of the north's design talent begins.
Now in its fourth year, the Northern Design Competition is establishing itself as one of the region's premier contests for up and coming designers.
The launch at Old Broadcasting House also included a small exhibition of work from last year's winners.
