Richard Scholey

After finishing his degree in Newcastle, Richard Scholey started his career with an eight year stint in London. After Conran and Michael Peters, he moved to Williams and Phoa where he was made a director. In 1993 Richard moved back to his native north to The Chase, becoming a director in 1995, before joining Elmwood as creative director in 2001.
His clients have included Nike, The Royal Mail, the BBC, the Chelsea Flower Show, Canary Wharf, The Design Council, and a hairdressers in Rochdale. His many accolades include 17 D&AD entries, Design Week, New York Festival, New York Art Directors, Roses, International Design Effectiveness, National Graphic and Epica awards. He has been a D&AD judge three times (soon to be four), lectured at various colleges and spent 18 months in Australia setting up Elmwood’s Melbourne office.
When he’s not at work, Richard loves messing about with his kids, travel, watching and playing football and just generally being outside.
