Corinne Silva is the judge of the Photography category.
Born in Leeds in 1976, artist photographer, she has degrees from the Universities of Brighton and Nottingham Trent. Working within an expanded tradition of photographic documentary, her practice is concerned with people and their relationship to place, examining their representation in history and offering suggestions of an imagined future.
Recent commissions include moving image installation 'Wandering Abroad', from Leeds Art Gallery, UK (2009); 'From War to Windrush', from the Imperial War Museum, London, UK (2008) and 'Róisín Bán' from Leeds Irish Health and Homes, UK (2006). A new body of work, ‘Badlands’ looks at a contested desert region in Southern Spain that falls on the new global political equator. She has work in the collections of the Imperial War Museum, London, UK, and the National Photographic Archive, Eire.
Corinne lives and works in London and is currently studying for a doctorate at the University of the Arts London.
